Trench List: Selena Arden Alida Alexander Cierra Aries And anyone else who's not in the other two. But remember, if you choose to be in this trench, DON'T POST ANYWHERE ELSE (except the master thread if necesary).

She stood silently in the gloom by herself. The morning mist crept over the sides of the trench. It was only earlier that morning she had crept out of bed to admire the day, and now she was here, fighting these inhuman monsters from hell. She knew in her heart she shouldn’t be here. She knew she should be taking solace in the school, away from all this—this death . She shuddered as a breeze ruffled her cloak. Then again, Adalia Blacke was shaking all over; death was one thing she couldn’t afford right now. Death was one thing she didn’t want to have to witness right now, but as time went on, she knew she probably didn’t have any choice.
Clouds mimicked her mood, and began to cry large, wet tears. This truly was a day of mourning. Mourning for peace lost; mourning for the fight of her life. Sometimes she just wished she could go to sleep and never wake-up.
Her wand was grasped firmly in her curled fist. Her knuckles were white; her breathing quickened, but her heart stayed calm. This was her agony, but then again, her choice. A choice she accepted whole-heatedly. A choice she knew, that if she didn’t make it, something horrid may happen.
Where on earth is Rob? she heard that her cousin, Rob Denan would be coming to this. He was not here, chances that he was stuck in some other trench, his ice blue eyes intent on victory. He was the only family she had beside her parents. If he was lost than, all hope was lost for her.
The unfurling of sails echoed in her ears. This was a day to remember. A day she’d rather not be apart of, but was apart of nonetheless. They were here, adversaries that wouldn’t take any prisoners, only lives.
Bring it on she crouched and readied herself for the fight of her life.

As Aries stood at the trenches he felt cold. sigh. Today is the day. Battle of right and wrong. Good and Evil. Aries look at the battle field. All the flat terrain and just miles of nothingness. "I have waited for this day!"

Arden peered over the top of the trench. He was a comical sight. The boy was not going to be serious until the very last moment. He had painted his face red and green, the colors of his favorite quidditch team. He was also wearing a camoflage hard hat that was meant for mountain camo, and therefore did NOT match his surroundings at all. To complete his absurd ensemble, Arden had on a bulletproof vest (that would do nothing against magic), combat boots that were three sizes too big, and a cheap, pink, Hawaiian lei that was already falling apart. Beneath his eyes were two bright gold streaks, mocking the black ones that American football players wore. He stood up proudly, then took in a sharp breath, ducked and rolled, knocking right into Selena who scowled at him, trying not to laugh.
"Oh, Arden. Would you please be serious? We might die. You do know that right?"
He slumped a little bit, then brightened. "Of course I know that, silly. But if I'm going to die, I might as well have some good fun doing it."
Selena sighed. "Fine. But are you at least prepared?"
"How could you even suggest that?" Arden put a hand over his heart and looked away, pretending offense. "Wand's in me pocket. Grenades...I'm not wearing insane cargo pantaloons for nothing."
"Pantaloons? And I think they're drowned out by those boots. Don't you have slightly more practical shoes? You're not going to be able to fight in those."
Arden waved her off. "Bah. I have a plan, don't worry. And these boots are absolutely fantastic! Got them from the room of requirement, don'cha know? Amazing place, that is. And gods, I have GOT to be less British. Just the other day, I said 'bally'. Who says 'bally' anymore, I ask you?" Arden flopped down on the side of the trench. His arm accidentally hit a rock and he winced. "Bloody hell! What the bloody--" Then remembering sometihng (and ignoring Selena's quizzical eyebrow), he dug around his his various pockets until he found the ointment section. He pulled out a tube of bruise balm and spread it over his throbbing arm. Arden aimed a kick at the offending rock. "Okay. so I don't quite rmemeber what I was saying, but I'm gonna go back to the weaponry. So. I have grenades, compact fire spears, my wand, of course, a few curses, some pistols, a machine gun with some extra ammo, a few more explosions that I made in Potions, and--the creme de la creme--" Arden pilled out a small tube. He stretched it out until it was a long ebony staff. There were grips for his fingers at each end, and when he gave it a twist, daggers popped out of the ends. "I'm not so good with it yet. Almost cut off me toe this morning. But I'm getting there. I've also put in a gasoline pump and made it fire retardant. When I breathe on it, it'll give the buggers something tho worry about. That is, providing I don't drop it and set myself on fire--not that it'd do anything. But still." Upon closer inspection, it could be seen that there were intricater carvings, just like most of the wood he worked with.
Selena stared for a moment. "Wow, Arden. I never realized that your breath was that bad." Arden closed up the staff and stuffed it in his pocket.
"You are rude. I've been taking breath mints now."
"Really? Because the last time you came within three feet of me--"
"Oh shut it, will you? I'm triyng to concentrate. You're going to get me killed with your constant babbling." A permanent pout made his outfit all the more spectacular. A peice of the pink lei drifted up in a small breeze and landed on his nose. Arden was working too hard on being upset to notice. He thought about Karia and what might happen if he or she died. That wasn't a thought he dwelled on for long. Then he realized that he couldn't see her. Where in the bloody hell IS she?

Cierra was sitting cross-legged off by herself when the ships appeared out of the fog, far across the water. She stood up quickly, squinting into the gray, trying to see them more clearly.
Definitely demon ships.
Cierra drew in a deep breath as many, many more joined it. Arlene had told her this was going to be bad - heck, everyone had told her it was going to be bad, usually coupled with something like 'so stop fooling around!' - but she hadn't expected this...much.
So, this is going to be fun, she couldn't help thinking. Maybe Arlene had heard that, maybe not. It really didn't matter either way. Cierra was serious now, but she still intended to have fun at a few demons' expense, no matter what anyone else said.
She hadn't gotten a good look at everyone else she was supposedly going to be sharing trenches with, and she took a few seconds in the tense atmosphere to do that now. The ships were moving incredibly slowly for her taste, and she didn't like it. Prolong the agony more, why didn't they.
Her mood improved greatly when she saw Alida standing a little way off. She looked back toward the ships, a small smile crossing her face. So Alida had actually decided to help them? Maybe it would teach her a thing or two about letting people in.

Through his excessive pouting, Arden noticed a multitude of sails on the dusky horizon. He jumped up and looked over the side the trench, standing on the tips of his toes to do so. Selena was already up, sending little puffs of wind into the ground for practice. Arden took off his extraordinary boots and replaced them with ones that were not only the right size, but were covered with metal and duct tape. Then he readied the staff and leaned against the side to wait.
"Hey, Selena," Arden asked.
"What?"
"Do you really think we'll die?"
Selena thought about it for a second. Then she looked up and came to stand by him, throwing an arm around his shoulder. "Look, you've always been there for me. So I'm gonna do the same. Of course, Arden. We're all Vampire food. I mean, look at the number of ships out there! There is no possible way that we'll live through this. But, what we can do is try to bring down as many of the bastards as we can down too. Now, you may not be good with that staff. And I may still suck at the whole lightning deal, but we're both getting there. Now be a man and suck it up."
Arden squinted for a moment, sorting it all out. "The only comprehensible thing i got out of there is that we're all gonna die."
"Basically," she replied with a smile. "So what do you say to getting killed with a lot of grenades?"
He pulled one out of his pocket and tossed it to her. "Got'cha covered."
The ships were even closer now, they were moving slowly, but there was no denying the fact that they were getting closer.
"Since we're gonna die, how about we say things we'll never get to say?" Arden wondered.
"Not on your life." Selena called Cierra over. "Hey, Cierra! Do you have that telepathy thing? How far are the ships from us?"

Cierra was distracted from her thoughts by someone calling out to her. She looked over, smiling, at someone she remembered seeing at the battle preparation. Wasn't she the one who Karia had treated like the plague? Yeah, that really nice girl who seemed to know Arden really well. Selna, something like that?
For once, she didn't feel the stab of annoyance she so often felt when someone mistook her or confused her with Arlene. Selna had only met her briefly and had every right in the world to get them confused. She probably didn't even know there were two of them.
That got Cierra thinking. If she really didn't know that, and they all managed to live through this by some wonderful miracle, she could have a lot of fun with that. Heck, why not start right now?
"I...don't know what you're talking about. Telepathy? I'm pretty sure I don't know anyone who's telepathic. God, that would be scary..." She looked back out at the ever-approaching ships, ships bringing doom and death and a very literal hell upon them all. "I'd say they're about five minutes from here, though."

Selena nodded. "Oh, okay. Sorry. I was pretty sure someone had telepathy though. Sorry. Do you have any weapons?"
Arden edged over to Cierra. "Erm, you do remember your sister, Arlene, right? The one who's blind and telepathic?" He said it so that Selena couldn't hear, but he wwas pretty sure he knew what was going on. "If you're playing games with her, I'm totally in...I still owe her for 2005. She can be pretty awesome when it comes to pranks. But do you really think this is the place?"

"Yes, I remember Arlene," she hissed back at Arden with a devilish smirk. "But she doesn't. And as long as I have to be a twin, why not milk it for all its worth?" She pointedly ignored his last question, mostly because she didn't really have a sensible answer.
"I don't have weapons of the gun variety," she answered Selna. She frowned; for some reason, 'Selna' still didn't feel right. "I can control fire like Arden can, but...not well yet. And I have magic!" She pulled out her wand and swished it through the air. "If you can find Professor Mordechai, I'm sure he'll lend you something from his huge never-ending trunk-chest, but I think he's in one of the other trenches. Selena!" she burst out, snapping her fingers. "Finally, I remembered!"

Selena nodded at the weapon choices. "Well, you'll need to get a little more use with the whole 'fire' thing. And I don't need Mordechai...I've got control of the weather, when it's not being blocked by demons..."She muttered. Selena chose to ignore the name fiasco. That was natural.
"Hey!" Arden burst in.
"Hold on, Arden." Selena held up a finger. "I know i called it a 'fire thing' but you know i think you're more important. Anyways, good luck, Cierra."
"But, Selena," Arden began again,
"Hush, Arden. It's okay. The demons can never completely block me. I'm part dark fairy, you know." She smiled a little, then turned to berate Arden who had started tapping her shoulder incessantly. "Wha--" She froze, finally noticing the battalions of monsters heading towards them. "Crap. You ready?"
Arden gulped and took out a grenade, throwing it just before the front runners reached the trench. They were imps, and it blew off a few heads. Arden almost peed himself with fear. This was totally not what he'd expected. A few ghouls, maybe. A lame guy in a cloak who claimed to be supreme ruler of all the easily killed demons, of course. And maybe a snake pit or two. But this...sucked.

Vissiand jumped intoo the right trench. He caught his breath--just enough to see that the ships were coming closer. He then looked down the trench, glanced at each of them, Selena,Arden, Alida, Alexander, Cierra, Aries, and the few vampires left. So...this is the test of our very species...the battle to decide it all. This was it. Today the blood of a million demons would flow through his veins. Either that or he would meet them in Hell.

Cierra took a deep breath as she turned to face the sea again. "Thanks. You guys too." Those were probably the last words she'd ever say to them, and she wanted to make sure they were said. Just in case.
Ships were coming out of the water. Ships were coming out of the water. Painted blood-red, very quickly approaching shore, and no doubt filled with immeasurable amounts of demons. Cierra placed a hand on the side of the trench, ready to leap out as soon as she could.
She vaguely saw Vissiand standing over them, yelling something about Ashkhan. Her attention wavered onto him for a moment, then snapped completely on to him. He was flying.
"That is so cool!" she cried. "I wish I could fly!"
And then Arden had chucked a grenade out into the advance row of tiny imp-like demons, and Cierra could no longer concentrate on anything but the actual fighting. She wanted to get this over with. Without anyone dying.

Arden saluted before tossing a pike and spearing four imps. "Wow, that was lucky. How are ye, Vissy? Having a lovely day? Well stop sting there being all dramatic with the wind in your hair, and get goin'!" And imp dropped into the trench. It cackles and waves it's fingers at Arden in a 'goodbye' wave. He rolled his eyes, pulled out a pistol, and shot it through the head.
Selena's mouth dropped. "You know I'm a lesbian and all, but Arden, that was just hot."
"Thanks." Feeling spurred on by the compliment, Arden took another step forward, aiming another pike. That was when he slipped on a rack and fell flat on his back. "Oh, bugger."

Vissiand just stared at Arden. "You know the difference between you and me? It's that by lunchtime I'll be the one eating and you'll be the lunch of whatever the hell's out there." Vissiand grinned. He turned to Cierra. "Flight is one of the key components of a vampire's locomotion. It gives him a third dimension in space to work with, and usually a priceless advantage over a land-locked or sea-locked enemy in battle," he said. "But now's not the time for lectures. Now is the time to be the most on guard you've ever been in your entire life. This is where it could end. One small slip and everything is gone." He grinned. "No pressure," he added.

Cierra rolled her eyes. "Yeah. No pressure. Now let's stop with the wonderful fantastic speeches and get to killing things already!"
Without thinking, Cierra vaulted up onto the ground outside the trench, her arm glowing red. She was immediately stuck in a sea of the imp-like creatures.
"Wonder how flammable they are..." she muttered, raising her arm. One of them jumped onto it, grinning up at her. She grinned back and fire pulsed down across her skin and up into the imp, charbroiling it completely. Even if it hadn't killed the creature, it had certainly incapacitated it for the time being.
More fire pulsed through Cierra's outstretched arms and the rest of her body, and she ploughed onwards through them with intervals of small fire blasts catapulting from her hands.
